Join MPP Kristyn Wong-Tam to mark 2024's Trans Day of Remembrance. We will begin with a ceremonial flag raising, hosted by Friends of Ruby, followed by a reception inside Queen's Park, hosted by MPP Wong-Tam.
This day is a beautiful opportunity to come together to honour the Trans siblings we have lost and to reaffirm our commitment to fighting for the respect, dignity, and care that Trans and gender-diverse people deserve in Ontario.
Agenda:
2:30 PM - Gather
2:35 PM - Speeches from Speaker of the house and Friends of Ruby
2:45 PM - Raising of the Flag, moment of silence
2:55 PM - Speeches from Politicians and community members
3:15 PM - Conclusion, group photo, and invitation inside for reception
After the flag raising and speeches, attendees are invited inside for a relaxed reception in the 3rd Floor Caucus Boardroom where we will enjoy tea, coffee, and light refreshments. If you are attending the reception you must RSVP. Please read below for the information you need to enter the Legislature.
- You will enter via the visitor’s entrance, directly left/east of the main doors of Queen’s Park(on the south side).
- Please don’t bring any sharp or dangerous objects, as the screening is akin to airport security. Liquids are allowed, however.
-
Bring government-issued photo ID
- The name on your ID does not have to match the name you gave us. If you have not legally changed your name and/or gender marker to reflect how you present or the name you use, that is completely okay. Security should not ask any questions and will be reminded of this on the day.
- When security asks for your name, please share the name that you used on the RSVP form so that they can find you on the list. Please use your preferred name on the RSVP form.
